Snow Making on 11-16-2008

Snow making started last night (11-15-2008) and we are still going strong.  Forecast is calling for cold temps through the end of the week.  That should give us a good jump start on getting snow on the runs for the Thanksgiving weekend.

Right now we are making snow on Frigga, Vali, Idun and the top and bottom of the mountain.

Stay tuned for further updates on the snow making progress.  You can also check out the web cam for a live view of snow making.

A Chill in the Air

October 15th, 2008

It’s getting to be that time of year again.  Snow making season is almost upon us.  We are finishing up maintenance on all the snow guns, piping, pump and hoses.  Guns are beginning to be placed around the mountain and will be ready to make snow as soon as the temps hit 28 degrees.  Snow making will start on Frigga to get the race run open for the annual Team Norway Thanksgiving Race camp.  Guns will also be placed in the beginner terrain park to begin covering that area with snow so we can have some basic terrain park features for opening weekend.   The plan is start making snow the first week of November as long as the temps are there.  Stayed tuned for more info on the start of snow making and keep your fingers crossed for some cold weather!

Open this Weekend, Dec 8th and 9th

December 7th, 2007

We will again be open this weekend, Saturday and Sunday. There will be 7 runs and 5 lifts operating. Runs open include Frigga, Freya, Vali, Balder, Gioll, Idun and Bragi. Reminder, we will be open daily starting on December 14th, but closed Christmas day. Check out the website for more details.

Round’ the Clock Snow Making

November 27th, 2007

Mother Nature has been kind so far this week.  Looks like we will be able to run continuously throughout the week and weekend.  Temps are perfect right now and the guns are pumping out massive amounts of snow.  The snow cats will be out first thing in the morning to start pushing snow and moving guns around.  Check out the web cam for a live shot of the action and stay tuned to the website and snow report for the latest conditions.

Opening this Weekend, Dec 1st & 2nd

November 27th, 2007

We will be open this weekend, Saturday and Sunday, Dec 1st & 2nd.  We plan to have 3-4 runs open with 3 lifts operating.  The Idun Terrain Park will also be open with rails, boxes and a small jump.  There will be special pricing for lift tickets due to limited open terrain.  Make sure you get up this weekend and start dusting off those ski’s and boards!

Snow Making Continues

November 22nd, 2007

Snow making is in full swing right now.  We are finishing up on Frigga for the Team Norway Race Camp tonight and will have it pushed and ready for Friday morning.  We will then move all those guns onto Vali and Freya to get those runs ready for the weekend of Dec 1.  We hope to have 3 or 4 runs open and the Idun Terrain Park ready.  Check the website often for photo’s and updates.

Good First Night

November 7th, 2007

We had a great first night of snow making! Temps didn’t get as low as we had hoped, but we still made a ton of snow. Guns will be shutdown around 9:00am and we hope to fire back up tonight. Stay tuned for more photo’s and updates.

First Morning

Snow Making will Begin Tonight

November 6th, 2007

The time has finally come that we can start making snow. They are forecasting lows in the 20’s tonight.  The plan is to fire up the guns around 8:00pm, and hopefully run well into the morning.  Might be our only chance to make snow this week.  We’ll keep the site updated with news and photos.  Stay tuned!

Closed for the Season

March 27th, 2007

Norway Mountain is now closed for the season.  Rain, sun and warm weather have melted most of the snow pack we had left.  Thanks to everyone for making this season another great one.  We had some difficult times with lack of cold and snow in the beginning to frigid temps and no snow in the mid-season to some snow and 70’s at the end.  We hope Mother Nature will be much more cooperative next season with her weather.  Also, be sure to buy your 2007-2008 season pass before April 30, 2007 and get the biggest discount over the full price of the pass.  Details can be found on the website.  Again, from all the staff at Norway Mountain, thanks for a wonderful season.  Stay tuned to this blog and the website as we begin to layout the changes and additions for 2007-2008.  It’s going to be a great season!  See you in November!

The End is Near

March 23rd, 2007

We are quickly approaching the final days of the 2006-2007 Season. We will be open this weekend with all runs and all lifts. The snow is holding up and conditions should be fairly good in the mornings and early afternoons. We will be closed during the coming week, but will re-open for March 31 and April 1 if conditions allow. Please call or check the website for more information on conditions.
