17th Annual Yooper Days

Saturday, February 9, marks the 17th annual Yooper Day at Norway Mountain Ski Area where we celebrate the Yooper Games of Winter. Contests include pasty eating, chainsaw throwing, pasty pitching, and fire hose race, Yooper trivia, Yooper King and Queen and the frozen t-shirt contest. Norway encourages everyone to show up in Yooper attire. This could include blaze orange, flannel or long underwear worn on the outside. Anyone in FULL Yooper garb gets a lift ticket for half price.

The festivities begin at 11:30am on the east deck of the lodge with the pasty eating contest. Rules are no hands and all the ketchup you need. 12:30pm features the famous chainsaw throw. Sorry no catching is allowed and no, they are not running! On the Nastar race course at 2:00pm is the fire hose race. Teams of 4 must ski or board down the course and through the gates while holding on to a 50 ft fire hose. Speed and agility are key here. Yooper Day peaks at 4:00pm in Toasty's Bar with the only Frozen T-Shirt competition in the area. Contestants must thaw out a frozen t-shirt and be the first to pull it on.

Schedule of Events

11:30am - Pasty Eating Contest on East Deck (All Ages)

12:30pm - Chainsaw Throw for the Men (Over 16)

2:00pm - Hose Race on Nastar Course for everyone!

2:30pm - Yooper Trivia in Toasty's Bar

4:00pm - Frozen T-Shirt Contest in Toasty's Bar (Must be over 21 and under 90 to enter)
